The annual Hole in the Wall Tour, presented by the Hoofprints of the Past Museum in Kaycee, traces the steps of the Outlaw Era from the sympathy towards rustlers and outlaws that resulted from the Johnson County War through the famous Hole in the Wall Fight.

July 18-21, 2024

The Longmire Foundation announced the annual celebration of author Craig Johnson’s Longmire Mystery Series will take place this summer in Buffalo. Activities associated with the event are still in the early stages of planning with details — such as what actors will attend — to be determined.

Johnson County Arts & Humanities Council hosts the annual Art & Music Festival on July 27 in Crazy Woman Square Buffalo.

Johnson County War Tour

Saturday, August 17, 2024

The Johnson County War Tour, presented by the Hoofprints of the Past Museum in Kaycee, allows attendees to travel by bus the approximate route of the “Invaders” in their fateful attack on the “Rustlers” in April 1892, learning about the war and stopping at various sites of historical significance along the way.

Bozeman Trail Tour

The Bozeman Trail passed through the Powder River area east of Kaycee for only a short time, but this area was the stage where early explorers, travelers, trappers, the U.S. military, the Indian Wars, and even missionaries played their part in Western expansion. The fascinating and little-known history of these people and events will shared by knowledgeable local historians as you travel by bus eastward from Kaycee through the Powder River Country in a tour presented by the Hoofprints of the Past Museum.
